Effect Of Family Separations and Well-being Of Mothers
It is no longer new to us that separations from parent always have negative effects on child including mental, emotional and sometimes physical…and can last well into adulthood.
Examining the case for mothers in particular though, it is noteworthy to mention some of the likely causes of child services interventions and how they have long term impacts on a mother. Some of the likeliest causes for interventions range from poverty, substance abuse to mental illness. Of course this isn’t the zenith though, but you’re far more likely to be harassed if you’re poor and cannot defend yourself appropriately.
Interestingly though, separations are highly linked to the prevalence of these ‘causes’ on the mother. This means that strong correlations occur between victims of separations and an increase in mental illness, substance abuse and poverty.
Two separate studies carried out in Canada (which has one of the highest separation rates in the entire World) provided definitive evidence to this claim. For instance in the research carried out by students of the University of Manitoba, there was a significant rise in hospital discharges, prescription rates are, mental imbalances and alms support for women who had or continued to have a child or more taken away from her.
